Make sure that the beach you have chosen is calm and quiet. You want to avoid any disturbances or distractions at your wedding; after all, you are the main focus. Avoid crowded or busy beaches and keep in mind that the ocean waves are not harsh, but soft and easy on the ears.
Canopies are overhead cloth hangings that will provide shade to your guests in the hot sun and they also add a lot of color and décor to the simplistic venue. Your canopies can either be bright and colorful or they can be sober and light to match the shades of the sand and the ocean.
Be sure to obtain the necessary permits and grants to host a beach wedding, at least 2 weeks prior to your wedding. Do plan a follow up regarding any last minute changes in your grant, as you do not want any officials coming to your venue at the day of your wedding and shutting it down.
Reach out to the officials about the wedding guests limit, alcohol limits and decorations, to avoid any possible problems. It is always better to be safe than sorry, and with it being your big day, it is best to play by the rules.
Inform your guests that it is a beach wedding and that they should steer clear of heels and opt for flats. Heels will simply dig into the sand every time they try to walk and will ruin their balance. Avoid any ankle injuries due to this and be sure to have sprain or muscle relaxants like Volini, Sloan’s gel and Moov in case any one does trip or fall.
Another tip to keep in mind regarding footwear is that having a valet shoe station will allow your guests to remove their shoes and roam barefoot. This will help make them feel more comfortable and be at one with nature. They can pick their shoes up from the shoe station on their way out. You could also supply the flip-flops if guests would like to wear them.
The beach is absolutely breathtaking as is, so try to keep minimalistic décor for your wedding. Using bright colors like pinks, purples, dark greens and browns is a bad idea as it will make your venue look extremely crowded and the colors will not complement each other. Coral colors are your best friend as they are minimalistic and will accentuate the ocean.
Look at shades of ivory, pastel blues and creams, maybe even lemon yellows. These shades will add subtle beauty to the already splendid hues of the beach. You can also use terracotta pots with luscious green, leafy plants to add some more color. Just remember that when it comes to beach weddings, less is more.
It is likely that the beach will be windy and humid, so consider using plenty of hairspray and gel to keep your hair in place. Updo’s will benefit you by keeping the air away from your face and will let you enjoy the cool wind of the ocean breeze. Another important tip is to use minimal makeup as it will begin to feel sticky after a point. If the weather on your wedding day is sunny, keep sunscreen and sunglasses available for the guests to use as per their need.
Because of the shifty nature of sand, it is possible that your chairs might move a lot, making it uncomfortable to sit for long. Look into wooden chairs as they not only look great but also are comfortable and sturdy to sit on.
Is your wedding a morning, afternoon / evening affair? If it is in the morning, plan it for the time before the beach gets direct and overhead sun, which is typically before 11am and continues on as a lavish breakfast or brunch. You can keep the celebrations in an indoor area as it is likely to get hot after 11am. The best time for an afternoon/ evening wedding would be along with the pretty sunset that leads to dinner after.
Consider wearing a light weight lehenga with fewer embellishments as it will be difficult to manage the lehenga whilst walking in the sand. It will also be quite hectic to clean the lehenga from all the sand that may get stuck on it. We all know how difficult it is to remove the stubborn sand from our feet alone, imagine the irritation it will cause while removing it from the beautiful lehenga you are wearing. Look into cotton lehenga as the material is much more breathable and comfortable to wear.
Keep plenty of water and drinks available to your guests along with finger food. Finger food isn’t messy to eat and is light so that your guests can snack without feeling acidic or uncomfortable.
