Time To Change From Big Fat To Small Virtual Weddings

So the whole world is dealing with the Coronavirus crisis and one of the majorly impacted industries would be the Indian Wedding Industry. India is known for its big fat multi-day wedding which is fun to experience and has a massive drive force involved. But unfortunately, the world is struggling with a pandemic, so even the wedding industry has been affected by this, all the events are cut short and only closed ones are invited or if people decide for a virtual wedding then just the bride and the groom.

So, we have to wait till the vaccine is ready? Or have to postpone the wedding? Or just adopt the new normal? We understand that you have many such questions that are bothering you! Some people are just postponing the wedding hoping for better days to come, some are just planning a close net wedding where only the family would be present and some are planning for a virtual wedding where wedding planners are using technology to rephrase the magic again.

Virtual Wedding Industry

The Indian wedding industry is one of the largest among any industry, its net worth in 2019 was 8 Lakhs Crores it is a huge number when even compared to the telecom industry.

Over one crore weddings are held every year in India with a vast variety of outfits, food, jewelry, decorations, wedding planners. Tons of workers are hired for this and even the workers would earn their bread butter during this wedding season, how could we forget the destination weddings which are trending nowadays, let’s say a Greek Island, Bali, Italy or could be any Indian State.

But, because of the pandemic weddings have come to a halt. The problem which the Indian couples are facing now is the safety of their loved ones. The solution cannot be to postpone the wedding up to 18-24 months, vaccines will also not be ready or if there are ready mass production and distribution would take a long time.

Meanwhile, some couples have already started experimenting with online wedding celebrations and there are many ways to use technology in a smart way, as it could be Instagram live, Facebook lives, Zoom, or Drone recordings or cute backyard weddings and participate through video calls. Online wedding or virtual wedding can turn out to be a transformation from a big fat wedding to a small online wedding and this would be implemented immensely for many years.

Imagine having a small wedding in a truly blissful location with just a few people to attend and hundreds of others participating through the 3D virtual meet, this would also be a different and unique approach, trying new things will never be any harm. A full virtual reality wedding would go even further as the couple would be taking the vows and their family members would be sitting at home and enjoying, family dinners are made virtual as all the members would gather through video call and prepare the same dish.

As many people are happy with this new normal and are happy to accept this new change, as even we would suggest that this is the time where India should adapt small virtual wedding instead of the big fat wedding!
